Linux box RedHat 9 Intel P4 , 3GHz , 1GB Ram
After changing a new password for root , I can't login to the linux again with root account. I have tried to reset root password with the following step and it still doesn't work.
a) Boot system with Linux disc1 b) > linux rescue c) click next , next , .... d) # chroot /mnt/sysimage e) passwd
Please help...
REPLY: What is happening before you reset the root password? Try
to check the content of /etc/securetty. Check if tty1 , tty2 .... tty12
exist. If this file has not problem, I guess your system has been cracked....
