使用開放源碼顯示卡驅動程式啟用 AIGLX

X.Org 中的開放源碼驅動程式對 Intel 和一些舊的 ATI 顯示卡的 3D 加速功能都有不錯的支援。如果您是使用以下的顯示卡：
- 所有 Intel i810 至 i965 - 幾乎所有 i810 驅動程式支援的顯示晶片都可以順利啟用 AIGLX, 但舊晶片(如 i830)在執行 Compiz Fusion/Beryl 會很慢。有執告指出 GMA 945 (即 i950) 的支援有問題，不能執行 Compiz Fusion/Beryl。
- ATI Radeon 7000 至 X850 (使用 R100 至 R420 晶片, 約 2000 年至 2004 年推出) - 舊卡如 Radeon 7000 支援不錯，除 Blur, Water 和 Reflection 等，大部份 Compiz Fusion/Beryl 的特效都可以順利運行。
那恭喜您，因為 X.Org 7.1 開始已內建 AIGLX 功能，所以您如果使用由 CentOS 5、Debian 4.0、Fedora Core 6、RHEL 5、OpenSuSE 10.2 和 Ubuntu 6.10 或更新版本的 GNU/Linux，您無需編譯或安裝其他驅動程式而可以運行 Compiz Fusion/Beryl 等。

設定 X.Org (可略過)
大部份情況您不需要改動 X.Org 的設定，不過如果您未能成功啟用 AIGLX 或執行 Compiz Fusion/Beryl ，可以參考以下的設定確定是否所有 Compiz Fusion/Beryl 需要的功能都已經開啟。
檢查 X.Org 的設定檔 /etc/X11/xorg.conf:
確定 Module 章節有使用 dri、glx 和 dbe 模組
Section "Module" Load "dri" Load "glx" Load "dbe"
確定 Device 章節有啟用 XAANoOffscreenPixmaps 和 DRI
Section "Device" Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" "true" Option "DRI" "true"
確定 Device 章節有啟用 AIGLX
Section "Layout" Option "AIGLX" "true"
確定 DRI 章節如下:
Section "DRI" Group "video" Mode 0660
確定 Extensions 章節有啟用 Composite
Section "Extensions" Option Composite "Enable"
